The English noun people (singular "person") refers to a plurality of human beings. It has two usages:
Because the word people often refers to abstract and general types of groups, the word persons is sometimes used in place of people, especially when it would be ambiguous with its collective sense (e.g. missing persons instead of people). It can collectively refer to all humans or it can be used to identify a certain ethnic or religious group. For example, "people of color" is a phrase used in North America to describe non-whites. From Google News Search: "People" Why do people ask people from the INTERNET important medical questions concerning themselves? Q. Why do people ask people from the internet important medical questions concerning themselves? I am baffled at some of the medical questions I see people asking about themselves on here, especially when they have already been given an answer from there doctor which they have visited on the issue. Why do they not ask there doctor these questions, or get a second opinion from another doctor. I am amazed that people would turn to people from the internet, who they do not know, to answer a question concerning there health, and welfare. What are your views on this? Asked by rpryor4 - Mon Oct 27 11:39:41 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. Some people are asking out of curiosity, maybe someone can give them some insight, or maybe someone has experience the same thing, or things to think about before going to the doctor. But when some people come on here and ask what shall I do my baby has had fever for days now, or questions like that .. is beyond me. Those people are just stupid. Common sense would tell anyone with brains when to ask and when to call or head to the doctor. Answered by Horse Up - Mon Oct 27 11:49:49 2008 How can people be so ignorant and beleive negative lies the media says about muslims? Q. I find alot of people judge islam and muslim people when they don't even know what islam is. The media sends out negative messages of islam being a violent faith how can people judge when they don't know what the islamic teaching is. And they don't realise that islam is probably the only religion that is most anti-war and anti-crime. Its very irritating knowing thatso many people have fallen for the media's lies. Asked by eee - Sun Sep 6 08:45:46 2009 - - 14 Answers - 0 Comments A. *Sighs* Sorry, but the media doesn't paint all Muslims as violent; it points out that the extremists are a minority. However, claiming it to be the most anti-war is borderline fallacious; claiming it to be the most anti-crime is a flat-out falsehood. Islamic nations are home to some extreme examples of human rights abuse, especially as regards women's rights. Answered by Vincent K, Atheati Mad Scientist - Sun Sep 6 08:51:54 2009 Are atheists and people to whom religion is of low importance, generally less biased and prejudiced?
Q. Less than religious people, of course. It s just that religious people seem to me to be very biased and prejudiced, I mean, they attach so much importance to their particular brand of reality rejectionism and will often judge people solely on whether or not they accept the same stuff without evidence that they believe. The only prejudice that atheists seem to display is a tendency to reject religious people s claims but you can hardly blame for that, now can you? Asked by Desiree - Sun Jun 7 08:49:37 2009 - - 12 Answers - 0 Comments A. "It s just that religious people seem to me to be very biased and prejudiced" The irony? You're very biased and prejudiced yourself. Answered by Kill it before it dies - Mon Jun 8 14:12:03 2009 From Yahoo Answer Search: "People"
